Life has been full lately. With the start of a new year, I have found myself going through a transitional time. I’ve noticed that within our family, the “seasons” are changing. I don’t have to bend down quite so far to hug my son anymore. My daughter is growing and changing and no longer a toddler, rather a “big kid like her brudder.” Soon-to-be kindergarten student.  I have filled my little and newfound free time (wait, what was that?) with… Read more »

The holidays are my favorite, and over the years, we have created new traditions that we now treasure. One of our favorite things, as with most, is decorating the Christmas tree. When we moved into our current home a couple of years ago, we needed a bigger tree for our high-ceilinged living room. We purchased a new, taller tree, but my sentimental side longed to keep up the original tree my husband and I purchased together, years before we had… Read more »

I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior- yes, the Messiah, the Lord- has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!  Luke 2:10-11 Well, I couldn’t wait any longer. I really intended to wait until after Thanksgiving to put out my Christmas decorations. But last night, a burst of Christmas cheer appeared, and up to the attic went the fall decorations and down came the many Christmas boxes.  My children were… Read more »

I wrote a blog review earlier about the devotions we like to use as a family at nighttime. You can read that here. But my youngest child, my daughter, still enjoys smaller picture books. She enjoys a quick read with sight words she can recognize, which makes her feel like a “big kid reader” like her older brother. He likes to read books to us, and when the books have basic sight words, she likes to “read” also.    Recently,… Read more »

My favorite thing to do when I get a minute to myself is to read a good book. Sometimes, I will stay up until the early morning hours reading, because when you have little children, there is little time to quietly read a book during the day. Often, I read fiction, but I also enjoy a change every  now and then and delve into other genres. When given the opporunity to review Parenting: The 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically… Read more »

Of the many characters my children love to either watch on tv or read about in books, the VeggieTales are some of their favorites! While they enjoy a good VeggieTales movie now and again, they really love reading about them. When I was given the opportunity to review the new Every Day with God: 365 Daily Devos for Girls for review, I was SO excited! (My children were too!)    We are a family of routine and scheduled days, and one… Read more »

The older I get, the more details I seem to lose sight of from the past. I like to think it is because I am making so many new memories along the way. But even though some things get foggy and I can’t quite remember every little detail, I remember this time seven years ago as if it just happened. Around this time seven years ago, currently 3:30 am, I was wide awake as I am now. Only then, I… Read more »

There are many times when our home feels like a farm. Chores are never ending, much as I would imagine a farm to be. Mouths have to be fed. Clean ups are needed. The days seem to run on a somewhat steady schedule. And it is noisy! Though the sounds of animals are not to blame, the sounds come in the form of arguing, giggling, squealing, and non-stop talking from two adorable little children. Occasionally our cat will wake up… Read more »

Over time, I have seen posts and articles on essentail oils and been somewhat interested. It wasn’t until last spring that my cousin really introduced me to the magic in those little bottles. (Thanks Robyn!)  Those who are around me now know pretty quickly that I am slightly obsessed with essentail oils. I have been sold on them since I bought my first starter kit. After much, much research, I chose Young Living oils and love them more with each… Read more »

Today was one of those days. And tonight, as my family sat around the table eating dinner, they started. All of them. My husband, my son, and my daughter. They all lied. Told fibs. Spoke untruths. But with each falsehood, I listened and I fell in love with them all even more.  Today was one of those days. The kind your mom warned you would come. When your feet are knocked out from under you and you just wish the… Read more »
